Ugh…Molluscum Contagiosum (Sigh!) How To Get Rid Of It Naturally
MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM
If you’ve heard of the these two terrible words before, then you understand the headache that comes along with trying to heal it. If you haven’t heard of this virus before, then lucky you and I hope you never experience it.
Molluscum Conagiosum is indeed a very contagious virus that results in little “pearly or flesh-colored bumps. The bumps may be clear, and the center often is indented,” according to Web MD. Thank goodness they aren’t painful or itchy. The real irritation with these bumps is that your body may take 9 months to clear them. You heard me correctly- 9MONTHS! Just to put that into perspective, let me remind you that these bumps are super contagious, so that means constant cleaning of every surface that these bumps make come in contact with.
Personal Story
My youngest daughter (age 4) got Molluscum Contagiosum on the back of her legs. Perhaps it was from a playground slide, a restaurant chair, the locker room bench at the gym pool, etc, etc. Truly it doesn’t matter HOW it was contracted; what matters is how do I get rid of these tiny little bumps. Our pediatrician said to just leave them alone and they will go away by themselves within 9 months. Really? That’s the best advice you have for me??? So, hi-ho to Google I go.
The overwhelming tried and true remedy I have found is… (drum roll please)…Apple Cider Vinegar!
Since my little girl is only 4 and her bumps are on her sensitive skin on the backs of her legs and near her tushy, straight Apple Cider Vinegar is just too strong. Here is my recipe for success in clearing Molluscum Contagiosum in kids.
- Mix in a jar 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar, 2 parts water. Apply to the bumps at least 2x a day with a piece of gauze or cotton ball. If possible, keep the affected area covered so as not to spread to others (or to a different part of their own body).
- The bumps and surrounding area will get red as the body fights the virus. Instead of putting apple cider vinegar on this irritated skin, take a dollop of coconut oil with 1 drop of tea tree oil and apply. Both coconut oil and tea tree oil are anti-viral and will continue to fight the good fight.
- Also, add 1 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar to the bath each night.
- Be vigilant about hygiene, making sure to not let these bumps spread to anyone else in the house.
Before this recipe my daughter was battling these bumps for about 4 months with NO improvement. With this recipe, my daughters bumps went away within 1 month. It wasn’t super fast, but it was very effective.
Let me know how it works for you!
