The Easiest Way to Pack A School Lunch (And It’s Eco-Friendly)
What do you think of when packing a school lunch for your kiddos? Does a brown paper sack filled with ziplocks of snacks come to mind? Maybe you are on more of the “green” trend and you have a lunchbox for your kids with reusable cloth bags. The only problem with the reusable lunch bags is that they are made with TPU (Eco-Pul), which is a polyester fabric with a stretchy film of thermoplastic polyurethane bonded to it. It is deemed safe for food contact, but if you want to take a step away from the plastic world, then Eco Lunchboxes are your best bet!
We were fortunate to get to review both their Three-In-One Stacking Eco Lunchbox as well as their Blue Water Bento Seal Cups and were thrilled with both.
GOOD FOR BABY ★★★★★
The Three-In-One Stacking Eco Lunchbox is the perfect lunchbox in my mind. It comes with two stacking containers that are both the same size, and the third container is nested into the top or bottom container. Often times, I pack my kids’ lunches with an assortment of snacks, some of which shouldn’t touch side-by-side (think blackberries next to hummus and crackers). The stackable containers make it perfect to separate your kids’ foods. For the 3-in-1 Stacking Eco Lunchbox, it is made of stainless steel, which does not leach any harmful chemicals like plastic can. It is small enough for a kindergartner to handle, or even for Mom/ Dad to tuck into the diaper bag. If you have two kids, you could even pack a small picnic with this one set, each child getting their separate tray.
For the Seal Cups, they are the perfect snack size for toddlers. Eco Lunchbox carries an assortment of sizes, but we tried out the Mini Seal Cup. It was perfect for a toddler to have, and they can even open it them self. Since it is stainless steel with a silicone top, it is very durable, and will definitely withstand those infamous toddler tantrums where cups go-a-flying. Silicone also does not leach chemicals, and is odor and stain resistant. It’s hygienic and hypoallergenic with no open pores to harbor bacteria.
GOOD FOR EARTH ★★★★★
This is a plastic free product. Woohoo! With these Eco Lunchboxes and Seal Bento Cups, you can create a waste-free lunch. Of course it is easier to buy pre-made granola bars, and little yogurts in plastic tubes, but think of the big picture.. all of that extra waste on a daily basis! This is better for your wallet, better nutrition for your family and better for the Earth we share.
Stainless steel can and is recycled over and over again. It does not have any toxic additives like BPA nor phthalates and is third-party tested to ensure purity. For the silicone lids, it “is not toxic to aquatic or soil organisms, it is not hazardous waste, and while it is not biodegradable, it can be recycled after a lifetime of use.”
Also the packaging is super minimal, which I always appreciate.
USER-FRIENDLINESS ★★★★★
I tested out the Eco Lunchbox on my kindergartner to see about how easy it would be for her to use, and she loved it. Of course she immediately wanted to squirrel it away to her room to hide all of her precious treasures in, but…nonetheless it was easy to use and she loved it. The nesting and stacking feature is a piece of cake to use, and makes it so convenient when packing an assortment of snacks for a school lunch or just for an outing.
The Min Seal Cup proves to be leak-proof when held upside down with apple sauce in it, and very durable when dropped/ thrown ; )
USEFULNESS ★★★★★
If you’re packing school lunches or snacks on-the-go, these little Seal Cups and Eco Lunchboxes come in handy. For me, I personally love having something that is convenient and safe for my little ones and the earth. Eco Lunchbox makes products that are working to change the way in which we consume- ultimately creating less waste and teaching our kids the valuable lesson of being conscientious world citizens through lowering their carbon footprint.
