International Packing List For Travel WITH Kids
Traveling internationally and want to keep it light? It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling for a week, 2 weeks or months- this is really all you need. Even if you’re traveling for 2 weeks, you don’t need to bring 14 changes of clothes; simply find a laundromat (or your airbnb) and wash your clothes after about a week.
Family of 4 (Kids ages: 7 & 4)
Luggage
2 Large Backpacks/ Roller suitcases (Clothes, toiletries, basic toys)
1 Large Purse (For plane essentials like snacks, books, basic toys, tablets)
1 Small Purse/ Fanny Pack (Passports and $$)
1 Day Pack/ Collapsible Bag (For all of those day trips + trips to the grocery stores)
1 Computer Backpack* (Bring IF working while abroad- otherwise stick with just smartphones)
- *In most countries, you can buy a new SIM card and phone plan for pretty cheap that will work in that region so you have internet and phone capabilities (Alternate option is to use your Smartphone when you have Wifi and use WhatsApp for phone calls).
1 Umbrella Stroller (Even if they are 7, someone always needs a walking break, especially when you cross many time zones).
What To Pack In Your Backpacks (each person)
- 2 Pairs of shoes
- 4 Socks
- 6 Undies
- 2 PJs
- Sun Shirts & Simple Inflatables & Goggles (beaches/ pools)
- 6 Outfits (Depending on the climate you’re visiting)
- 1 Sweatshirt
- 1 Light Jacket
- Band-aids and Rope for Clothesline/ fort
Top 10 Necessities To Pack On The Plane For Kids
- Tablets- Download books, games and movies (If you have Netflix, you can simply download movies/shows and download new ones whenever you have internet)
- Back-up paperback books for when the batteries run out
- Balloons-Easy entertainment that is sure to make new friends
- Reusable water bottles. Even if you’re traveling to a region where the water is not safe to drink from the tap, you can buy larger water bottles to fill up your reusable ones, or find hotels or restaurants who have filtered/ reverse osmosis water to drink.
- Paper and Markers
- Light Scarves-Good as a sun cover up, a towel, a blanket, a fort, a shoulder/ head cover to enter churches/ mosques, shade for a stroller nap.
- 1 Small bag of toys per child (tiny figurines, legos, magnatiles, etc)
- Snacks! Always be over-prepared when it comes to snacks and kid-travel.
- Favorite stuffy or blankie
- Ziplock baggies to collect all of their treasures they will find/ or to pack picnic lunches
